This simple Scandinavian sleeping trick is good for your night’s sleep

Spoon-spooning is of course wonderful, but not the most comfortable way to fall asleep. At some point you will turn your backs on each other and the battle for the blankets will begin. For this reason, people in the Scandinavian countries are increasingly using two duvets instead of one. And there is a good chance that this trend will soon also spread to the Netherlands.

Discussions

It is also on the rise in Belgium. There are no figures yet, but the Belgian psychologist and sleep expert Annelies Smolders also sees that more and more couples are sleeping with two separate blankets. “A bed partner who snores, coughs or grinds your teeth can wake you up. Even so, there are couples who have discussions because one of them keeps making off with the blanket,” she explains Good feeling† “Or one person wants to doze off under a warm blanket, while the other prefers it a little cooler. Or one person likes to sleep with the window open, while the other is too cold.”

Intermediate solution

Many people actually sleep best alone, without a disturber nearby. But that’s just boring of course. Therefore, using two separate blankets can be an interim solution. Not quite convinced? Then you can also put an extra blanket ready at the end of the bed. Start the night romantically by spooning and if you suddenly find yourself without blankets in the middle of the night, you grab the extra blanket and you can sleep peacefully again.
