The Kaiserdamm Bridge was simply recycled at Fehrbelliner Platz.

Today, the Kaiserdamm Bridge has a rather simple design. She’s also a workhorse. Up to 50,000 vehicles per day!

There has been a bridge at this point since 1906, when the Kaiserdamm was built. It was much more magnificent and only crossed the Ringbahn tracks. The city autobahn was added in the early 1960s. To do this, the “valley” under the bridge was widened and the bridge itself had to be demolished and lengthened.

A pretty detail is hardly known. The railings from the old Kaiserdamm Bridge have been recycled. They were integrated into the Fehrbelliner Platz underground station in 1970. At that time, the station had to be rebuilt for the expansion of the U 7. In the old part (opened in 1913) the parts of the bridge from the Kaiserdamm fit like a glove.

You can still marvel at part of the old Kaiserdamm Bridge today. She has just moved and is standing on the escalators to the U 3. Painted light green, around 32 meters of the most beautiful wrought iron work from the imperial era are presented there.
