Lauri Markkanen scored 38 points and collected 17 rebounds, but the Utah Jazz still lost to the Phoenix Suns in a marathon game 137-140. The victory was decided only in the second overtime.

Markkanes had a chance to level the match in the very last moments, but the Finn’s third didn’t sink. In the situation Phoenix superstar Kevin Durant managed to beat the Finn’s throwing hand just before the ball went into the air.

The referees reviewed the video for a possible foul, but Durant was deemed to have hit the ball first, and the Suns were able to celebrate the win.

The match was anyway a duel between Markkanen Durant. With 39 points, the Phoenix gambler was barely the game’s best scorer before Markka, but the Finn also had his moments. For example, he once squatted the 35-year-old sports legend in this style:

Although Markkanen has had a good shot in the early season, Utah’s start has been tight. The team has won only four games out of 13. That’s 12th in the Western Conference.
