This is why Johnny Depp refuses eye contact with Amber Heard | Stars

While Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have long since thrown overboard their marriage vows to continue to support each other for better or for worse until death do them part, there is at least one promise that Johnny Depp does stick to. However, it has nothing to do with love, but with resentment. This became apparent on Monday during the lawsuit that has been resumed after a break of more than a week.

“Mr. Depp never looked at you during the entire trial, did he?” Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, asked Heard, to which the actress replies that he indeed hadn’t. Heard indicated that she tried to look her ex in the eye, but he managed to avoid her look every time. “You know exactly why Mr. Depp doesn’t want to look at you. He promised you that you would never see his eyes again, is that true?” Depp’s lawyer continued.

Vasquez then played an audio recording of a meeting between Heard and Depp at a San Francisco hotel in the summer of 2016, shortly after the actress filed for divorce and demanded a restraining order against him. Heard can be heard crying to Depp to hug him to say goodbye, but he refuses. “I mean nothing to you and I never will,” he responds angrily. “You will see my eyes no more.” Six years later, he still seems to keep that ‘promise’.

Lawsuit

Depp went to court over a submission Heard wrote for the Washington Post, in which she claims to be a survivor of domestic violence. She didn’t mention his name, but it was clear she was referring to her ex-husband. He denies having assaulted Heard and states that she was abusive during their marriage. The actor says he has missed out on film roles and is claiming $50 million in damages. Heard also started a lawsuit against him.

The Pirates of the Caribbeanstar previously complained to the British tabloid The Sun because that newspaper wrote about the allegations, calling him a “wife beater.” The judge ruled that there was no defamation, because he considered twelve of the fourteen accusations proven.

The current lawsuit started on April 11 and is expected to last several weeks.
