This is where Berlin toasts to good taste on Sunday

By Stefanie Hofeditz

This will be delicious! There are around 25 stalls offering wine, beer and spirits on Sunday in Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg – from the Mezcaleria, the specialists in agave brandy in Berlin, to natural wine from Georgia. But there are also many non-alcoholic adult beverages available.

So much has happened in recent years when it comes to wine without percentages that giving up alcohol does not have to be a loss. There are exciting new alternatives, also called proxies. However, these are not dealcoholized wines, but rather clever alternatives that have similar aromas and are a good substitute for wine in terms of the drinking experience. Kombuchas, shrubs, oxymels, aperitifs, verjuice, special juices and much more are also offered.

There will be a discussion on stage, starting around 1.30 p.m., about “New Standards for Stößchen”, moderated by Jennifer Kießling from the Mindful Drinking Club. The children’s program allows you to try things out and experiment. You can try it at the non-alcoholic cocktail pop-up bar with Elias Heintz from Bonvivant in Schöneberg. It shows how good modern non-alcoholic cocktails can taste these days.
