This is what we know so far about the family drama in Boekel

The police are also investigating on Thursday in a house on Dotterbloem in Boekel, where one child was stabbed to death and one child was seriously injured on Wednesday. The mother of the brother and sister died after she crashed into a truck in Wilbertoord. What exactly happened on Wednesday has yet to become clear. The investigation is still ongoing. “And it is expected that it will continue for the rest of the day,” a police spokesperson said.

The police cannot provide any information as the investigation is still ongoing, a spokesperson said. There is also no answer to the question of how the child who was seriously injured is doing and who did something to the children.

At a quarter to one Wednesday afternoon, the first report was received by the police of a serious accident on Noordstraat in Wilbertoord. A car and a truck collided there. An air ambulance was called, but help was of no avail. The 42-year-old driver died. The truck driver was uninjured.

More than an hour later, just after two o’clock, the police were called after a stabbing at Dotterbloem in Boekel. Two young victims are found in the house, two children aged ten and twelve. One of them appears to have died, the other child is seriously injured.

“The gathering was meant to share emotions and talk to each other.”

What initially appears to the outside world to be two separate dramas, turns out around four o’clock that these events are tragically intertwined. The deceased woman in the car turns out to be the mother of the two stabbed children in the house in Boekel.

Later Wednesday evening, the truck driver involved in the accident told his story to Omroep Brabant: “She was driving on her own side of the road and suddenly she steered fully in my direction. I was terrified and slammed on the brakes.”

On Wednesday evening there will be a meeting of the municipality of Boekel for people closely involved with the victims. “The meeting was intended to share emotions and talk to each other, we are happy that we were able to organize it at short notice. Neighborhoods and parents of friends of the children involved were there, as were representatives of the schools,” says a municipal spokesperson.

She does not know whether any family members of the victims were present. About fifty to sixty people were present.

“You try to help him in child language at his level.”

Every now and then a local resident passes by the crime scene on Thursday morning. A woman pauses at the white screens. “I walked here this morning with my son. He wanted to light a candle. A bit of processing.”

According to her, the drama cannot be explained to her child. “You try to help him in child language at his level. You try to be open and honest about that, to a certain extent.”

The police expect that more information will be provided on Thursday when the investigation into the home is completed.
