The first pictures of the main stars of the movie Myrskyluoto Maija, directed by Tiina Lymi, have been published. Maija and Janne are played by Swedes Amanda Jansson and Linus Troedsson.
In addition to the Swedish duo, several child actors from Åland play in the film as Maija and Janne’s children and Maija’s brothers.
The film will premiere in 2024 and its script is based on the works of the original Anni Blomqvist novel series. Blomqvist from Åland wrote his five-part book series between 1968 and 1973.

Myrskyluoto’s Maija has previously inspired, among other things, a television series shown on Yleisradio (1976), which also includes the iconic by Lasse Mårtenson the song of the same name.
The upcoming film is a large-scale domestic production, which can be considered one of the largest domestic productions of the 2010-2020s, which brings the 19th century world of Myrskyluoto to the present day through the means of modern film narration.
Maija of Myrskyluoto will be seen in other roles Jonna Järnefelt and Tobias Zilliacus As Maija’s parents. Maija’s sister plays Amanda Kilpeläinen Arvidsson. The roles of British officers are acting Desmond Eastwood and Tony Doyle.
