It has been a year since the media quarrel between Marc-Marie Huijbregts and Özcan Akyol erupted. The men have never seen each other since. How would they react to each other?
Marc-Marie Huijbregts revealed almost a year ago that Özcan Akyol is very unkind in real life. The comedian saw up close how mean Özcan reacted to his good friend Isa Hoes. The columnist then portrayed Marc-Marie in VI as a good-for-nothing, after which Marc-Marie again shouted that Özcan has dead eyes.
‘Never seen again!’
How is it now? Marc-Marie says in the podcast ‘Marc-Marie and Jan are not afraid of anyone‘: “Well, I have to be honest: after all the nasty things he said about me, and I reacted to it… But, but… After that I never really met him again. But I can actually sit at the table with anyone.”
He continues: “I don’t have anyone that I think: I would turn my head away from that. I just don’t have that. I always think: be brave. Eus, Eus… The first time I met Eus was at the Boekenbal, that was with Isa and then he acted very stupid to Isa. I always find it annoying when people are really unkind. It’s not necessary.”
‘He’s super stupid’
You can also just be nice, according to Marc-Marie. “But saying really nasty things… Then I thought: I think that’s super stupid. I once told that in the podcast with Aaf and then he is very much like: ‘Yes, Marc-Marie can’t do anything and stuff.’ Then I said he has dead eyes and then that became a whole thing again. And then we never got out.”
Actually, Marc-Marie has only seen him on television, namely in Eus’ Book Club. What grade does he give that program? “A 5,” he says. “But if I met him, I would just act normal. What do I care?”
Common denominator
Özcan and Marc-Marie have one striking common denominator: they are both close friends with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. What is true about the rumor that he is hiding in his farmhouse? “Nothing. I was with him yesterday and then we just go to a restaurant, we just have lunch and there are just a lot of people sitting there.”
He continues: “That very strange thing about: ‘He’s hiding and he doesn’t dare go outside!’, etc… It’s all nonsense! We have already eaten somewhere in Amsterdam and stuff, just in a restaurant. It is not that at all, but I think people find it a more fun or exciting image.”
