This is what happens in the province’s camping areas during extreme heat

The intense heat makes Finns all over the country bitter. Koetkus also has Province festival guests, most of whom spend the night in a tent.

The province is usually known as a rainy and chilly festival, where festival goers celebrate to the fullest despite the weather conditions. Now the festival, which calls itself a celebration of people, is suffering from oppressive heat.

Many visitors spend the night in tents, where the temperature quickly rises to very high readings. However, in connection with the festivals, there are several campsites and possibilities for overnight stays for every taste.

Iltalehti visited the three different accommodation areas of the festers to investigate how the revelers were partying in honor of the scorching first day of July and the Province.

Camp Province

The province’s official campsite is located in the immediate vicinity of the festival area. It is located by the river, so it is possible to cool off in the summer.

It is only possible to stay in a tent in the area, so the sweltering heat of the beginning of July has put festival visitors to the test. Those staying in tent accommodation also know that Emily and Walter.

In addition to the river, it is possible to escape the heat under the parasols and by setting up your tent at the base of the trees.

However, Walter and Emilia’s tent was not the coolest and it was especially visible in Emilia’s night sleep.

– I probably fell asleep at half past six when I couldn’t sleep. Then I woke up at nine and went out of the hot tent to lie down. I found a little shady strip and then slept in it, he laughs.

There is a water point next to their camp, where you can always get fresh drinking water. We go there a lot, so that the body doesn’t dry out too much.

– The water comes out as cold as you can imagine, Waltteri says.

However, they don’t let the rough weather take the edge off a fun festival weekend, because they have a big group of friends.

– You get the most out of this in a completely different way when you get a place like this to hang out. If you had just bought a ticket to that festival area, you would have been there. Here you can hang out with your friends and have a drink, Waltteri says.

He adds that he hasn’t met people as friendly and helpful in many places as in the Province campsite.

A regional program has also been organized at Camp Provins to entertain overnight guests. In the area there is a beach sauna, food stalls and you might even come across a magician there.

Magician Sami Paavola goes around making art out of balloons, including poodles and, as the audience wishes, balloons in the shape of a phallus, which can be placed on the head like a crown.

– Let’s say that every other camp asks to do them, Paavola laughs.

School accommodation

One option for festival guests is also school accommodation, which is organized at the old school in Törnävä, which is already out of use.

Those who go to school accommodation can sleep in classrooms or the gymnasium. Those staying will get an air mattress for a deposit, and will be able to use the toilet and shower facilities found at the school. Festival guests in school accommodation are also allowed to visit the official Camp Provinssi campsite.

Among other things, they stay overnight at the school Evelina, Lotta and Maya. They have been very satisfied with the accommodation.

– A roof over your head and protection if it rains, Eveliina justifies the choice.

There are no quiet times in the school accommodation, so music can also be played in the classrooms. Eveliina says that in the same room as them there are a few other people they didn’t know before.

– We’ve been able to play music and they’ve joined our silly drinking games, Maija laughs.

You can also buy breakfast at the school, but it had run out of time when their group of friends woke up.

– We won’t be awake at that time yet, Eveliina laughs.

Seinäjoki campsite

The Seinäjoki campsite, which is in use all year round, also offers overnight accommodation opportunities for festival guests. It is possible to drive to the area with your own car or caravan. In addition to car and tent accommodations, there are small camping cabins in the area.

The cottages have also been booked by friends Antti and Maya. Antti says that the cottages were already booked in 2019, but the booking has been moved according to the festival. Both are celebrating Province for the tenth time already.

– Our friend took care of these cabins for us, I’m only here with a turnkey attitude, Antti laughs.

Maija has stayed at the same campsite on every festival trip. Before, he used a relative’s mobile home, but after selling it, he had to think about new types of accommodation.

– I have been going to these festivals since I was so young and always dreamed of these cabins. Now that there is no longer such a small girl’s tuxedo, this kind of living environment became possible, she jokes.

Both Antti and Maijak stay with their friends in small nine square cabins. However, they fulfill the most important things on the wish list: a bed, a refrigerator and the possibility to charge the phone can be found.

– Here you can cool down with refreshments, you don’t have to charge your mobile phone in the toilets, like in previous years. However, is it even needed here, Antti states.

He took a camping chair, travel speaker and sunscreen with him to Provins.

– You can go a long way with them.

Maija is saddened by the lack of toilets in the campsite. There are toilets for festival guests at the connection between the maintenance building and the main entrance, but the campers at the end of the area have to travel more.

– Meters feel like crossing a desert, especially on these feet worn by party shoes, Hanka grins.

However, camping allows new things for festival guests. In connection with the cottage village, you will meet new friends.

– Thanks to the electric plug, it was possible to sing Anne Mattila’s wedding to Perutaa in karaoke in the neighboring cottage.

In extreme heat, the cabin is cooled by a table fan. Without it, the temperature could get really hot.

It was also found in the same camping area Mitja, who told about the small swimming pool in the middle of his camp. They say you can take a dip in it during the summer heat if you dare.

– We don’t even know why you’re here.

The guy next door announces that the tiny wading pool is a recreation pool. There are about ten centimeters of water in the pool, a few cones and a rubbery banana.

– Our very dirty swimming pool, the neighbor sighs.

In the deeper area, you can also find a remarkable invention, namely a two-seater sofa into which the Jykevä speaker system is embedded. It is built For Lauri a man presenting himself.

– With a group of friends, we used to play with clubs, Lauri says.

The unique sofa is said to have withstood every summer festival for more than ten years. Over the years, the sofa, which has been in heavy use and played outside, has not needed major changes.

– A minor surface repair at most, Lauri adds.
