Lewis Hamilton has already started working for Ferrari. It will still be a few days before he collects kilometers in a red Formula 1 car for the first time. But new details have emerged about what exactly his testing for the Scuderia will look like.

It is already clear where Lewis Hamilton will sit in a Ferrari for the first time in his Formula 1 career. His maiden voyage will take place on the Pista di Fiorano, his new employer’s own track. The whole thing is supposed to take place on January 20th or 21st. The weather conditions will ultimately decide which day it will be.

It is still unclear which car the seven-time world champion will drive on one of the two days. According to “motorsport.com”, it has not yet been decided whether Hamilton will drive the SF-23 from the 2023 season or the F1-75 from the 2022 season.

Formula 1: Hamilton doesn’t just test on the Ferrari track

It is also unclear what workload the Brit should complete. According to the regulations, Formula 1 drivers are allowed to complete a total of 1,000 test kilometers per year on a maximum of four days in an older F1 car. And because that is the case, the Scuderia has already booked further dates.

As “motorsport.com” further reports, the Ferrari entourage will move on to Barcelona at the end of January. The racing team has booked itself into the Circuit de Catalunya for “at least four days”. You should ride on the three days when the weather is best.

Little time until the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season

For Ferrari and Hamilton, the days in Maranello and Barcelona are of great importance because the time in the car before the start of the season is limited. Shortly after the winter tests, the presentations of the new cars are already on the agenda. The three-day test drives will begin in Bahrain on February 26th, and the 2025 season will start in Australia in mid-March.

Little time for Hamilton to get used to a completely new environment. And little time for Ferrari to implement the wishes of the seven-time world champion as best as possible.
