Paris is coming into view, but at the same time Paris is still far away. What awaits the riders in the last week of the Tour de France? One thing is pretty much certain: we’re going to have a great fight between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar!
After a well-deserved rest day, the Tour de France will resume on Tuesday with an individual time trial. Unfortunately for the specialists no flat time trial, but a time trial with an uphill finish. In the first kilometers the road rises, after which it flattens out somewhat and the Côte de Domancy awaits.
That climb is short and powerful with an average gradient of 9.4 percent over 2.5 kilometers. Then the light continues to increase until the finish in Combloux. In short: we can expect a nice climbing battle between Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard on the 22.4 kilometer long course.

On Wednesday it is time to climb again. The seventeenth stage from Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc to Courchevel reaches the roof of the Tour via the Col de la Loze. At an altitude of 2,304 meters, after a stage with already three obstacles, bonus seconds are available on the 28.4-kilometer climb of an average of 6 percent. Important in the knowledge that this Tour can turn out to be a game of seconds. However, the finish is not at the top, but five kilometers further in Courchevel. The last kilometer has a maximum gradient of 18 percent.
Sprinters also on the move
Sprinters are also allowed to race in the final week, and not just on Champs-Élysées. The eighteenth stage is such a stage with possibilities, although attackers would also have a good chance here. The ride from Moûtiers to Bourg-en-Bresse is 184.9 kilometers long and almost flat.

Big question: who is up for a sprint against Jasper Philipsen? Or do the competitors prefer to attack? In that respect, the stage of a day later is more suitable for the adventurers. In the Jura it is a bit more hilly and the course lends itself to a nice leading group.
The denouement will follow on Saturday 22 July. We count six categorized obstacles in the 133 kilometer short ride from Belfort to Le Markstein, the place where the Tour de France Femmes also finished last year. The Col du Platzerwasel will take care of the decision in the Tour, if it has not already fallen at that time. Who can start the final stage through Paris in yellow?
We know early (around 4.30 pm). On the final day, the ride starts at 4.35 pm and the finish is expected around 7.35 pm. The chance that it will turn into a sprint is great, but who will strike and win the final stage in Paris for the last time? After all, next year the Tour will end with a time trial in Nice.
