Ilse Warringa, known for the mega hit De Luizenmoeder, sees her new comedy series CAST flop. Too few people watched the premiere yesterday for a place in the viewing figure top 25.
She will never be able to surpass the success of De Luizenmoeder: Ilse Warringa. Where that series attracted millions of viewers, the actress nowadays messes a bit more in the margins. Her new comedy series CAST started yesterday with 235 thousand viewers (5 percent market share) on NPO 3, not enough for a place in the top 25.
Very disappointing
Viewing figure expert Joost Maiburg, reporter for RTL Boulevard, speaks of a ‘very disappointing’ start. He fears for the ratings that will follow, but also notes: “Perhaps it will reach even more viewers through delayed viewing.”
According to TV expert Tina Nijkamp, this series is simply not suitable for the masses. “Perhaps it is a bit too ‘niche’ in terms of humor for the Dutch viewer”, she writes on her analysis channel.
After Linda also Ilse
Tina notes that the viewer is apparently not so keen on series that take place in the media world. “CAST is a bit like the French series Dix Pour Cent in terms of arena. It was also a bit like Linda de Mol’s Five Live because the arena is also the media and film world there and all the characters didn’t seem very cheerful.”
She continues: “Conclusion: another series about the media and TV world that does not score well in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, the first episode was also programmed opposite European football and also after the Flemish version of Meiden Die Rijden, which seems to be quite far apart in terms of viewer target group. So this seems to flop.”
Harmon wins
NPO 1’s Dit Was Het Nieuws was the winner on prime time with 970 thousand viewers (20 percent). Today Inside was with 898 thousand viewers (19 percent) on SBS 6 the most watched alternative at half past nine.
The winners at half past eight were NPO 1’s Floortjegaat meee with 849 thousand viewers (17 percent) and AZ – Lazio with 759 thousand viewers (17 percent) on Veronica.
The new season of Martijn Krabbé’s Better Than Ever started with 736 thousand viewers (15 percent) on RTL 4.
