This is the questionnaire for the schools of Catalonia to certify if they comply with the linguistic regulations

The Department of Education has sent first thing this Tuesday, precisely on the day that the deadline set by the TSJC expires to teach 25% of Spanish in the classrooms, an email to the more than 5,000 educational centers in Catalonia with the instructions that they must follow to certify that their linguistic projects comply with the regulations in force.

In this email, the Department explains that to certify that the projects comply with the regulations, the addresses must access an application and answer a seven-question questionnaire. These are:

  1. Does the linguistic project foresee that Catalan, as Catalonia’s own language, is the language normally used as a vehicular and learning language?

  2. Does the linguistic project foresee that Catalan, as Catalonia’s own language, is the language of normal use in the reception of newly arrived students?

  3. Does the linguistic project foresee a curricular and educational use of both Catalan and Spanish?

  4. Does the linguistic project incorporate exclusively pedagogical criteria and a global, integrating and cross-curricular approach to determine the presence and treatment of the official languages?

  5. Does the linguistic project take into account the diagnosis of the sociolinguistic reality of the center?

  6. Does the language project take into account the results of periodic tests and evaluations, both internal and external, at the different educational stages?

  7. Does the linguistic project avoid the use of percentages in the teaching and use of languages?
