Snack cart rental and catering company Frietamientjes from Baarle-Nassau has won the title of Brabant’s Nicest Company Name 2023. This was announced on Tuesday afternoon in the Omroep Brabant radio program Afslag Zuid, which organized the competition for the second time.
Owner Claudia Manders couldn’t believe her ears when the results came back. “Great!”, she says, visibly emotional. “I wouldn’t have dared to dream this.”
Claudia drove up in Breda with one of the snack carts to attend the awards ceremony. Together with Rinkeldekinkel Glasservice from Valkenswaard and Kei Mooi Paving from Strijbeek, they were in the studio to experience the results. The three were left after an exciting election with a total of ten company names.
A record number of voters decided that Frietamientjes Brabants has the Nicest Company Name, allowing Claudia to take home the coveted award. Rinkeldekinkel Glasservice finished in second place and Kei Mooi Pavingen came third.
Youthful sidekick
The name Frietamientjes was suggested to Claudia by a ‘young assistant’ when she started her first snack cart in 2009. He always said to her: “When are we going to make French fries again?” And then Claudia thought: that’s it. The youthful helper is now an adult man and still in her employ.
The Brabant Nicest Company Name election has been organized for the second time. Last year, food truck Eggsperience took the title. Owners Joëlle and Loïs from Someren bake – you guessed it – eggs in their food cart and were overjoyed with their prize.
Energy shot
The idea for the election arose spontaneously last year in the radio program Afslag Zuid, when presenter Ronny Balk noticed that there are many special company names in our province.
Every working day he hands out an Energy Shot in his program: companies can then request a song to help them get through the last stretch of the working day. He increasingly came across funny, nice or funny company names. “We have to do something about that,” thought Ronny, and the election was born.
