This dog doesn’t need a command to get the newspaper
Your best loyal family friend. It often refers to the dog of the house, and that on four legs and a furry coat. Sometimes the daily newspaper is also regarded as such. As a loyal and reliable family friend, eh.
Labrador Sophie van Dorette Stöveken (64) from Emmer-Compascuum brings together canine fidelity, reliability and family friend. Dorette only has to shout ‘get the newspaper’ and there goes the dutiful animal. Imperative is not even necessary! A video of the almost touching scene went around on social media this week.
Dorette does not see herself as her dog’s owner, but as a friend. And for a friend you have a lot more left. This is evident from the video. Because labrador Sophie also helps Dorette in the garden if necessary. And that comes in very handy in the spring. So you must have it from your friends †
Rooie Rinus and Pé Dalemmer are back and are declared cultural heritage
There they are again and unbreakable: Rooie Rinus and Pé Daalemmer. This illustrious duo presented a new live CD last Saturday in EM2 – according to people who have been there the most beautiful concert hall in Groningen. When Frank den Hollander and Peter de Haan started out as street artists in 1980, the compact disc didn’t even exist yet, at least not commercially. That’s how long this couple lasts.
And they move with the times. For example, the former ministers Kamp and Wiebes get a kick out of Bevend Loppersom (Lopster Toren gas version). In Acute Cyber Algorithms it is about cyber criminals, in (What’s wrong with a tasty) Death Threat the roughened society is discussed. And what about De Plattelandsvrouwen 3.0 Coronaspecial: ,,Celeste, Celeste/Can I test you/Only with clean lungs/I just want to speak with you!” Rooie Rinus and Pé were declared cultural heritage on the spot by bystanders – and they have a view on it. Like other world cities, Assen now also has a fountain
Rome is famous for the Trevi Fountain. Las Vegas has the Bellagio Fountain. Barcelona is known for the Magic Fountain. If you want to have something to talk about as a city, you have to build a beautiful water feature. In Groningen there has been talk for years about doing something with water on the Grote Markt. So far, that’s just words.
They overtook Groningen in Assen. The need for a fountain has also been expressed there for years. And lo and behold, a fountain designed by OKRA Architects was put into use this week on Koopmansplein. The opening was accompanied by a dazzling (…) show in which the dog Mannes and the late city bum Tokkel played the role. It will be a nice list: Rome, Las Vegas, Barcelona, Assen.
And Groningen? That city is going here due to a lack of decisiveness… nat †
Robert from Groningen wins audience award with children’s song in the spirit of Willem Wilmink
Everyone has heard a song text by Willem Wilmink (1936 – 2003). Consciously or unconsciously. Wilmink, Dutch artist, poet, writer and singer, was the purveyor of the most striking songs in programs such as the JJ de Bomshow, the Klokhuis, the film by Ome Willem, Sesame Street and the Stratemaker op zee show. The memory of Wilmink’s almost monumental work is kept alive by, among other things, awarding the Willem Wilmink Prize for the best children’s song.
This year’s audience award went to Robert Ramaker and Jorien Elout from Groningen with the song De Machinist ( listen to the song here ) which is characterized by a delightfully simple rhyme scheme that would have no doubt chuckled the namesake of the prize. It is to be hoped for Ramaker and Elout that De Machinist and this audience award will lead the two to more successes. †
These are the best anglers in the world
Gerrit Ansing from Roden does not speak fishing Latin. If he says he is one of the best anglers in the world, believe him. With his team JWP Waterservice he became world champion feeder fishing for club teams in Italy for the second time in a row.
Ansing pulled 70 kilos of fish from the Bianco Loreo canal with Jan Willem Grondpol, Martijn Kroes, Edwin Timmer, Jurian Bulten, Ramon Ansing, Ramon Pasmans and Kevin Bolhuis. 43 teams from twenty other countries could not compete with that. Well done guys.
Ansing and his teammates are apparently like fish in water on the bank with the rods. And let’s hope that the caught fish can also ‘retell’ the championship †
Bloemenzee is finally flooding the city center of Groningen again
The city center of Groningen is today transformed into a sea of plants and flowers. A sea of people is also expected. For the first time since the pandemic paralyzed life, it’s possible again: the annual flower market. It has been eagerly anticipated by enthusiasts.
Still exciting how the usual entry of the thousands of Germans – who flee Good Friday in their own country because everything is closed there – takes place in the city now that the ring road is partly closed for known reasons.
The city is ready, the trade is ready. The weather seems to be cooperating, so nothing stands in the way of a flowery spring day. But what should the people who don’t like a crowded crowd do? The Paterswoldsemeer, the Onlanden or the Drenthe heath are not far away at all. And it is certainly easier to get out of the city in the morning than in †
This club is on the threshold of the Eredivisie with its fans
There is no such thing as a sports club without fans. Well, with that statement in mind FC Emmen is a very vital club. What is called. How many football clubs achieve to return to the highest level within a year after relegation? Few, very few clubs.
The team, led by trainer Dick Lukkien, can achieve promotion to the Eredivisie tonight in and against (low-flying) FC Dordrecht. And that is of course partly due to the unconditional support of the fans.
In anticipation of that beautiful fact, everything is being prepared in Emmen to celebrate the expected promotion in a big way. That should happen on Saturday. First put FC Dordrecht aside.
And to make the party complete, FC Emmen must of course also win the championship of the Kitchen Champion Division. Although you don’t win much with it, it will forever be very beautiful on the honors list †
