When actress Gwyneth Paltrow met Coldplay singer Chris Martin, he was 25 and she was 30. In a new episode of the video podcast Call Her Daddy, Paltrow tells host Alex Cooper about that time, her feelings for the artist at the time, and why her ex-husband is still different to this day than any other partner she’s ever had.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s gut feeling: ‘I knew this would be the father of my children’
“He was just so cute. I met him when he was about 25 and I had just turned 30,” Paltrow recalls the early days and remembers the first encounter: “When I met him, there was something very deep. I couldn’t exactly name it because it felt very different from my other relationships. (…) I knew that he would be the father of my children. It was a very strong feeling.”
Paltrow met Martin in October 2002. That was two months after the release of Coldplay’s second album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head. They married a year later, in December 2003, and were a couple until 2014, parents are now 18-year-old Apple and 17-year-old son Moses. In 2014, they announced in a joint statement that they had split after more than 10 years of marriage.
