Extensive renovations

The spectacular pytinki is located right in the heart of the city. Madeleine’s apartment underwent a major renovation in 2014, which cost 6.8 million kroner, or about 600 thousand euros – even double what was originally planned.

Many years did not pass, when in 2018 a new renovation started in the apartment. The space was expanded by connecting two apartments and a wardrobe was built into the apartment. The price came to five million kroner, or about 430 thousand euros.

Already the second major renovation of the apartment caused resentment among taxpayers. Thanks to the renovations, which were largely financed with tax money, the originally five-room apartment has been expanded with two additional rooms.

An addition was made to the apartment during the renovation Svensk Damtidning including various luxury elements as requested by Madeleine and O’Neill. According to Aftonbladet, the couple has paid for additional luxury elements, for example expensive household appliances.

Madeleine moved into her apartment on Väpnargatan for the first time already in 2004.

The exact size or location of the apartment within the building has not been disclosed to the public for security reasons. Aftonbladet knows that the three- and four-room apartments of Madeleine’s neighbors range between 130 and 230 square meters. The seven-room local of the royal family must therefore be considerably larger than this.

Originally, the couple asked for 79 million kroner, or about 7.6 million euros, for their house. However, the house did not sell, so the asking price was reduced to 77 million kroner.
