Work is underway on a return of the legendary Soundmixshow, which was shown from 1985 to 2002 on first KRO and then RTL 4. Henny Huisman devised and presented the program, which was ultimately consigned to the TV graveyard when Idols moved to The Netherlands came. And now, 22 years later, a return is on the horizon.

Something for Linda?

Banijay Benelux, the parent company of EndemolShine, owns the rights and confirmed the return to TV authority Tina Nijkamp. “We are not going to make it for RTL,” a spokesperson said.

And according to Tina, this makes it clear what the new home base of the Soundmixshow will be. “Then it is SBS 6. Good choice by Frans Klein. Fits very much into the atmosphere of The Tribute. Too bad for Gerard Joling who is under contract with RTL. Maybe something for Linda de Mol?”

Rights amount

For Henny, the return means cash register, because he is the inventor of the format. “As early as 1983,” he says X.

Henny thinks the success of the format is ‘great’. “It has spread all over the world and in Belgium it is also called Soundmixshow, but in England Stars In Their Eyes and in the USA Your Big Break!”

Tina expects the Dutch version to start in the autumn.
