Barca coach Xavi is already working intensively with those responsible at FC Barcelona on the squad for the coming season. Now it has been revealed what his dream elf should look like. A central pillar on the offensive: The current BVB striker Erling Haaland.
Since the beginning of November, Xavier Hernández i Creus – Xavi for short – has been in charge of FC Barcelona’s fortunes as a coach. After taking over from the ousted Ronald Koeman, the Spaniard, who is revered as a legend at the club, guided the Catalans closer to the top ranks again. Six points behind fourth place, which entitles you to play in the Champions League, Xavi made a point.
So it’s quite possible that Barca will be back in the premier class next season. And they also want to play for the national championship again in Barcelona and stand up to Real Madrid, who are currently on 15 points. To prepare the team for these tasks, Xavi is in close contact with sporting director Mateu Alemany and president Joan Laporta.
In addition to promoting the young talents around Gavi, Pedri, Ansu Fati and Co., according to “fichajes.net”, Xavi is also thinking about external and, above all, well-known reinforcements. Accordingly, the coach is primarily looking for a right-back, a left-back and a center forward.
In the Spaniard’s dream team, young and highly talented players should then cavort alongside established stars, all of whom embody the Barcas game idea, as was customary under Pep Guardiola. For the three positions mentioned, those responsible therefore have three names in focus:
BVB star Haaland is said to lead the Barca project
José Luis Gayá from Valencia FC will play as left-back. The 26-year-old Spaniard still has a contract until 2023. Plan B is said to be Benfica SL’s Alex Grimaldo, who also has another year at the Portuguese club.
For right-back, bosses around Xavi have their eye on César Azpilicueta. The 32-year-old Chelsea star would be available on a free transfer in the summer.
In the middle of the storm, Erling Haaland, who has been traded for months and has already been mentioned by Laporta, should come to lead the Barca project into a successful future with many goals.
If all transfers went as desired, Xavi’s presumed dream eleven would look like this:
GOAL: Marc-André ter Stegen
Defense: Azpilicueta, Araujo, Piqué or Eric Garcia, Gayá
Midfield: Pedri, Nico González, Gavi
Attack: Ferran Torres, Haaland, Ansu Fati
