Marieke Elsinga is being put through the wringer now that a promotional video of Alles is Muziek, her first TV show as a mother, has been released. “What kind of stupid program is this again?”
It is starting to take on a bit worrying forms how RTL 4 deals with its big names. Chantal Janzen has to hoist up candidates in bitterbal outfits in studio shows and Marieke Elsinga now gets a program in which the eternal ‘panels with well-known Dutch people’ have to perform songs with everyday objects such as a vacuum cleaner.
Dom program
Gijs Groenteman, an important NPO prominent, thinks this is madness. He denounces it in his program Media Inside. “Marcel, what kind of stupid program is this again?”
Colleague Marcel van Roosmalen also finds it worrying. “Don’t know. This makes me really sad. Also that Marieke Elsinga. She’s standing here playing the guitar on a rake. I think: is this serious? Am I dreaming? Am I talking about this? It’s disgusting isn’t it?”
Very pathetic
According to Gijs, it is not nice of the RTL 4 top that they let Marieke return from her maternity leave. “I think it’s pathetic too. That person has just returned from maternity leave and now has to make a program in which people are banging on vacuum cleaners and wine glasses to make ‘music’ come out.”
Marcel: “Yes, I can’t say a sensible word about this.”
Format scarcity
It is unclear what exactly is behind this TV idea. “Do you think there is a format scarcity in Hilversum? Do they no longer know what to come up with because of craziness?”, says Gijs.
It could, according to Marcel. “I have no idea. I assume that Marieke Elsinga came up with this idea herself. That she said: ‘I want to make a program, but about music from household items.’ This was rolled out, they immediately said yes and now we are stuck with the baked pears.”
