Karolien Vertriest (43) is one of the heroes of this festive week. When Zwangere Guy (35) thanked his former Dutch teacher on stage at De Warmste Week because she believed in him and his talents when no one else did, a wave of recognition went through the audience. Bad teachers are a plague, but good ones can change your life. “And fortunately there are many like me,” says Karolien.
