You may know Black Friday from the bargains. But do you already know Green Friday? This special counter-movement is about sustainability and smart use of materials. IKEA Delft organizes great initiatives around reuse on Friday, November 24 – but also throughout the year. That can also save you money!
Whether you want to give your old furniture a new life or get creative: discover during Green Friday 2023 that reuse pays off!
By trash Unpleasant treasure
You can easily turn waste into art. Discover your inner artist with the Recycle Art workshop. Artist Jeanette Lotz teaches you to make a skyline from the waste cardboard from IKEA Delft. As an IKEA Family member you are welcome from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Spare parts delivered to your home
You are of course very proud of your BILLY bookcase, POÄNG armchair or MALM chest of drawers. Have you lost a small part, such as a screw or a knob? Do not panic! With a new part, your favorite IKEA furniture is ready for a longer life. They understand that at IKEA and that’s why you order online spare parts. You can collect parts such as dowels from customer service with your receipt or product.
Learn to repair furniture
If you have two left hands, you definitely want to visit IKEA Delft on Green Friday. In the furniture repair demonstration, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Koopjeshoek, the experts from Buurman Rotterdam will show you how to repair your furniture quickly and easily. Yes really: you can do it too!

Money for your old IKEA furniture
IKEA has a very nice furniture exchange service. In a nutshell: furniture that no longer suits you and that is still complete can be sold back to the furniture store. You get a fair price for it and it is sold again in the Koopjeshoek for the same price.
The furniture giant itself does not gain anything from it. Why? Because IKEA wants to stimulate circularity. Quickly check whether your furniture qualifies for the furniture exchange service and make your move during Green Friday.
Car boot sale
Speaking of reuse: on Green Friday, IKEA Delft organizes a car boot sale. As an IKEA Family member you can sell second-hand items from and around your car. You get no fewer than two parking spaces per car. Quickly check all the information and register for the IKEA car boot sale.
This is how the Bargain Corner works
For many fans, the Bargain Corner is the last stop before the cash registers. But did you know that you don’t just buy bargains there? IKEA makes the furniture to last a long time. If they do come back, they will be as good as new again with a repair. If a product is damaged, the employees check which parts can be saved from the waste. This way they get a second life in the Koopjeshoek.
New life for IKEA waste
Waste that remains does not simply go to waste processing. To ensure optimal reuse, IKEA donates some waste flows to charities. Ipse de Bruggen’s clients make pillowcases and planters from textiles. The show model candles are transformed into new candles at Middin. And there are more cool collaborations.
