Chat app WhatsApp is now packed with handy stickers to send to friends and family, but did you know that you can also make such a sticker pack yourself? We explain how.
In addition to an emoji or gif animation, you can also spice up a chat on WhatsApp with a sticker. These are in fact small photos or illustrations that you can quickly tap from the keyboard. They are often alternative smileys, for example of a funny figure who raises a thumbs up.
You can find stickers in WhatsApp by tapping the small sticker plate above the keyboard and then pressing the same sticker again at the bottom. There are several categories there and you can also download new stickers with the plus button.

This is how you make WhatsApp stickers yourself
If you want to make stickers yourself, you can’t just do that from the WhatsApp app. Instead, you have to log in with the chat service in, for example, the desktop app on a computer or in your web browser. There you will find the ‘Create’ button on the regular sticker page, after which you will be asked to upload a picture.
You get buttons to crop and edit the image, after which you can save it for later use. After this, the sticker can also be found and used in the regular app on your smartphone.
Create WhatsApp stickers with a third-party app
If you don’t have a computer at hand, you can also install an external app on a smartphone. For example, on iPhones you have Sticker Maker Studio, while on Android the more simply titled Sticker Maker is popular.
Follow the instructions in these apps and you will soon have created a sticker pack for WhatsApp, which can then be used again in that app. You must first send the sticker to someone before it ends up in your archive.
