This is how you become the new Climate Mayor of Zoetermeer

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy is looking for a Climate Mayor for as many municipalities in the Netherlands as possible, including Zoetermeer. But what do you have to do to qualify for the title? We figured it out.

This action started in 2021 during the National Climate Week† In the first year, 142 other municipalities were appointed a Climate Mayor. This year we get it for the first time.

Co2 emissions

To become a Climate Mayor you have to commit yourself to reducing CO2 emissions in Zoetermeer. This can be by means of a large measure or something small. Think, for example, of taking a shorter or cold shower, or taking the bike more often. You can of course also start a climate action in your street or neighbourhood. The more creative the action, the better! Give here yourself or someone else to become Climate Mayor of our city.

National Climate Week

This year National Climate Week is from October 31 to November 6. In this week, the intention is for the new Climate Mayor of Zoetermeer to make others aware of CO2 emissions and to take actions or give tips.
