The history of the traditional competition has contained a lot.
The roots of the Miss Finland competition go back to the 1930s. Over the decades, a lot has happened in the competition: there have been big changes in the rules, Miss Finland has given up her crown and one year the jury did not feel that anyone was worthy of the title.
The pageant tours have taken finalists all over Finland: from the shopping centers of the provinces to the charm of Lapland. Miss candidates have presented underwear fashion and wedding trends. In 2022, there was a major reform to the rules.
– Performing in a swimsuit was left out of the casting event. Body measurements are no longer taken or reported during the competition. During the tour, we do not shoot underwear photos. By renewing traditions, we keep up with the development demanded by the times, miss empress Sunneva Sjögren’s reasoned.
