In 2020, Union star Lucas Tousart (26) came to Berlin and wanted to play with Hertha in the premier class – instead they were relegated. Now the Frenchman could fulfill his wish with the Köpenick team.
However, there is a question mark over Tousart’s commitment before the cracker at the start at Real Madrid on September 20th. The midfielder injured his thigh in a friendly against Udinese (1-0) before the start of the season and was therefore unable to play in competitive games or train with the team – preparing for the Real game becomes a race against time!
After all: On Monday Tousart completed full team training again, including shots on goal, passes and duels. In one game, the former junior national player was allowed to distribute the ball. A squad place for the game in Wolfsburg on Saturday is getting closer.
Will this also work in the Champions League soon? According to BZ information, Tousart should be resilient again and continue to train fully – but the game in Madrid could still come too early. For Tousart, every day becomes a fight for the dream of Real.
Summer signing Alex Kral (25) will probably remain on the six spot for the time being. The Czech has impressed so far in coach Urs Fischer’s (57) team. But even if Tousart feels most comfortable as a sixth man, he could also be used further up in midfield for the Iron Men.
And that’s where the Iron Men could really use Tousart’s experience: The right-footed player played 15 games in the premier class with his former club Lyon, scoring two goals. Valuable Champions League experience, which Union secured for a bargain price of less than three million euros.
What also speaks for Tousart starting soon: Due to his move within the capital, he has no problems getting used to it – only the commute from Charlottenburg is now longer.
In Köpenick, Tousart soon wants to collect the Champions League minutes he had to wait so long for!
