Although Thomas Tuchel’s contract with FC Bayern is “only” dated until mid-2025, there have so far been no signs of a possible extension of the Munich coach’s working paper. Instead, the German record champions recently had to address and correct speculation about the 50-year-old’s departure from Spain. But how does Tuchel really plan his future? “Sky” knows more.
According to the TV station, Thomas Tuchel wants to fulfill his current contract with FC Bayern, despite all the current discussions about his flirtation with Spanish football, which made the rounds at the weekend due to statements made during a visit to a fan club. This means: The 50-year-old wants to be a trainer at Säbener Straße until at least the summer of 2025. That is his “clear goal,” according to Sky.
One of the reasons for this: He didn’t succeed at both Chelsea FC and Paris Saint-Germain, i.e. his two previous stations, but that should finally change at the German soccer record champions.
Even if an extension has not yet been discussed, it is possible at FC Bayern under certain conditions.
“If this all happened with Max Eberl [dem angehenden Sportvorstand/d.Red.] works great when there is calm on the management floor, when the duo Eberl/[Christoph] “Friend plays in and he still has a certain transfer power, he can imagine extending his contract with Bayern in the long term,” reported “Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg.
However, there have not yet been any corresponding negotiations or discussions and therefore no new contract offer, it said.
FC Bayern: Is it a good fit between Tuchel and Eberl?
That’s not surprising, however: Assuming that Tuchel actually wants to wait and see what the collaboration with Eberl is like, the process is likely to drag on for a while, because Eberl hasn’t even officially left RB Leipzig yet, let alone been approved by Bayern’s supervisory board.
However, both are considered a formality; the new sports director should start his work in April at the latest.
Tuchel’s possible interest in a job in Spain will only come into play when there are no longer any prospects in Munich, the TV station continued. The coach is a sympathizer of FC Barcelona.
But Tuchel is even more excited about a comeback in English football. “He’s keen to go to the island again and Manchester United have never lost sight of him in the past,” said Plettenberg. Contact between the Red Devils and Tuchel has flared up from time to time, but so far it hasn’t worked out.
