Amazon puts the second generation of Echo Carwhich comes with a more compact design and greater installation possibilities.
Eric Saarniovice president of Amazon Devices International, points out in a press release that “this new device provides more options and more utility. Like the previous model, it will continue to improve as we add more AI-powered generative experiences throughout the year.”
And it is that, as the Amazon executive highlights, “customers from all over the world choose Alexa as their personal and trusted AI: to date, more than 500 million devices have been purchased with integrated Alexa and the use of Alexa has increased 35% in the last year”.
How Echo Auto works
We are facing the second generation of Echo Auto, which is available on Amazon Spain from this Wednesday. This new device, as was the case with the first version, is designed to add the capabilities of Alexa and without taking your hands off the wheel, in those vehicles that do not have built-in AI support.
It features a slimmer design than the previous generation and, as a novelty, includes an adhesive mount that offers flexibility to place it in the car. It has five built-in microphones so that Alexa has no problem listening to our orders, even if the air conditioning is on, the noise from the road and we even have music on.
But what possibilities does Echo Auto offer? This has not changed. We can ask you to play music, make phone calls, Drop In to compatible Echo devices, and even tell us the latest news and weather information. It also lets you control compatible smart home devices from behind the wheel.
It is compatible with Amazon Music (that you can try for 30 days totally free), Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Audible and Los 40.
And of course, as we can already do with any other device in the Echo universe, ask Alexa to set the thermostat, turn off the lights, check if the front door is locked, among other capabilities.
how to install
The installation of the Echo Auto is very simple and will only take a few minutes:
- Step 1. Connect the USB cable to the car audio outlet with the included adapter or directly to a USB port.
- Step 2. Set up the device from the Alexa app. The latest version of the Alexa app should be downloaded if you don’t already have it.
- Step 3. Before starting to drive, we must make sure that the audio of your phone is not muted and that the audio input, either auxiliary or via Bluetooth connection, is well selected.
- Step 4. You can start asking Alexa for things: play your favorite song or give you directions.
Echo Auto takes privacy into account
Alexa and Echo devices have multiple layers of privacy protection built in. For example, the Echo Auto has a mute button that electronically disconnects the microphones.
