Sony has announced on February 9 that it will introduce a beta update for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 that will bring new features.

Sony has said it will initially offer speech recognition in the United States and the UK. The console can therefore be made to respond to the “Hey Playstation” command. Use of this feature is optional and may be disabled.

According to Sony, you can use a voice command to launch games or applications installed on your console, open the home menu, or adjust the media you play.

Sony will also be revamping its group chat with the upgrade. Groups can be set to private or public. For example, the founder can decide if group members can also invite their friends to the group. The Playstation also introduces a new indicator to make it easier to identify who is currently speaking in the group.

A major update is also the home view update. In the future, users will be able to choose from five games and applications that will be held in the home view, even if they have played other games or used other applications in between. Normally, games and applications move to the right in the home view if they have not been used before. The number of games and applications displayed in the home menu also increases from 2 p.m.

In addition, the update introduces new ease-of-use features, such as the ability to play monaural from headphones.

This is only in beta, so an update is not yet available for everyone. The Playstation will make the update more widely available later this year. You can read more about the update from here.
