Actress, singer and Miss Finland Pirkko Mannola turns 85 on December 27.
Pirkko, who was crowned the most beautiful woman in Finland in 1958, became a widow in 2009 and was already satisfied with the idea that she would never find a husband.
Then an acquaintance from a long time ago, hockey influencer Göran Stubb, appeared in the pictures. The man had asked her on a date for the first time already in 1959, a year after Pirkko was crowned Miss Finland. However, shy Pirkko did not agree to the date request.
– I had reportedly replied that I was thinking about it. Now Göran jokes that you are thinking about 60 years! Pirkko laughed in an interview with Iltalehti in 2019.
– My ex-husband was a football player, now I’m crazy about hockey. All misses find a hockey player in the end! Pirkko ranted in the same interview.
Pirkko was referring to Åke Lindman, who was not only an actor and director, but also a soccer player at the national team level. Among other things, Lindman participated in the 1952 Olympics.

You are engaged
Pirkko proposed to Göran in 2016. Göran said yes and the couple got engaged. In 2019, they moved into an apartment in Pirko Tapiola. Göran still wanted his own apartment, but in the end there was no need for a “hiding place”, because the couple’s relationship was going so well.
Pirkko told Iltalehte in April 2023 that Göran sold his own apartment later.
– We get along well with Göran. We have a similar mindset and sense of humor. When Göran was in Rauma for three days, on the first day I was surprised that everything was strange when I was all alone. I give thanks every night that I have Göran.
The couple decided that they were not going to move from their shared home to a service home.
– We decided with Göran that as long as the legs carry and the head works, we will live one day at a time. Then if the other person’s head starts tossing or the memory doesn’t work, then it’s pointed out right away. We’ll see where this life leads.
Pirko’s most famous songs include, among others How Love Began and Do All That Again. Pirkko has acted, among other things, in a film released in 1961 Star nebula.
