The fatal stabbing in the Den Hey-Acker juvenile detention center in Breda is now over a month ago and more details are coming out about what exactly happened. This can be read in a report that has been published on the website of the Custodial Institutions Service.
The stabbing happened in the kitchen of the complex. One boy dies, another is injured. A third inmate is suspected in the case. But what exactly happened on that Friday afternoon? What made it go wrong? This is how the deadly stabbing in Den Hey-Acker in Breda went.
Screaming with a knife in his hand
It is Friday afternoon, April 15, half past three. The suspect, G., aged 18, walks with a group leader to the office. There he was given a knife to cut onions in the kitchen. At that moment, another group leader along with two inmates L. 19 and M. 20 emerged from the dormitory.
Suspicious G. suddenly runs towards the 20-year-old boy, screaming with the knife in his hand. He tries to flee, but slides down.
The 19-year-old boy stands between them, whereupon the suspect stabs him with the knife. The 20-year-old boy and the group leader flee into the office. Both are also injured by the knife.
In the office, the 19-year-old boy again stands between the suspect and the 20-year-old fellow prisoner. He is stabbed again. A second group leader yells at the suspect to drop the knife.
In the end, G. does too. Shortly afterwards, he can be arrested by the police.
Unconcious
The 19-year-old boy, who tried to protect the others from the attack by the boy with the knife, lost consciousness. When the prison staff who were there no longer feel a pulse, they begin CPR.
When the ambulance arrives, ambulance staff take over, but they can’t do anything more. The boy dies from his injuries.
The 20-year-old fellow inmate was injured and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Later in the evening he returns to Den Hey-Acker.
