This is how the DFB women rate their German group opponents

But not only the individual quality of the midfielder Harder and the team are decisive. Frohms therefore emphasized in an interview with t-online that “solutions against the pressing of Denmark” had to be found. In addition, Denmark “played up front” at the EM 2017, says the final woman, referring to the title of Vice European Champion.

It is also important for Giulia Gwinn, the 23-year-old German top performer and midfield player, to take every opponent seriously. She emphasizes to t-online: “You shouldn’t underestimate any opponent and especially Denmark. It will be an endurance test. Nothing is given to you at such an EM.”

Spain

Especially not when Spain, the highly regarded favorite for the title, is waiting in their own group. “The team consists almost half of players from FC Barcelona and they are very good,” continues Brand. Alexia Putellas is Spain’s captain and key player – although she will not be there due to a cruciate ligament rupture (read more here). The midfielder was the first Spaniard to be awarded the Ballon d’Or in 2021 and is also active at FC Barcelona.

The advantage of the team is that the athletes know each other well and are already well attuned due to their joint club affiliation.

Tabea Waßmuth from TSG Hoffenheim still believes in a sense of achievement against the Spaniards. “We want to try to win against them no matter when Spain comes,” the striker told t-online. She adds: “I think you can see that the potential is there in the team. It’s a tournament where you have to give every game 110 percent and analyze every opponent really well. And then try to win every game .”

Finland

Little is said about Finland. The team is considered an outsider in the German group. Nevertheless, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg warns of the team. “Finland has the physical element, they come with all the robustness, have a great mentality and always want to push the pace forward,” said the national coach in an interview with “ntv”.

The experienced DFB midfielder Sara Däbritz, who will play for Champions League winners Olympique Lyon from next season, says in an interview with t-online: “When you go to a tournament as Germany, the dream is always there of winning the title to win.”
