This is how the Civil Protection alert sounds on your cell phone in the Barcelona area

Civil Protection will make a warning system test to all mobiles that are found in the Barcelona area this Thursday, September 14. It will be the first to be carried out in the Barcelona area and it is the one with the greatest reach in terms of population susceptible to receiving the message in the event of a serious emergency, almost 5 million people.

For better tracking and assessment, shipping will be made by geographic sectors at different times throughout the morning. At 10:00 a.m. the alert message will be sent to the mobile phones in the Vallès Oriental, Maresme, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Badalona and Santa Coloma de Gramenet; at 11:00 a.m. in Barcelona; at 12:00 p.m. in the Valles Occidental; and at 1:00 p.m. in the Baix Llobregat and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

All mobile phones that are in these areas, even if they are people passing through by road or rail such as transporters or tourists, will receive the notice, which will be accompanied by a strident noise. This is how the alert will sound on your mobile.

The alert will be accompanied by a sms. Specifically, the message they will receive will be the following: ‘Civil Protection alert test of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Don’t call 112, it’s a test. In a real emergency you would receive instructions to protect yourself.’ This message will be sent in Catalan, Spanish and English.

Civil Protection reminds that once citizens receive the message they must read it and, as the text will indicate, not call 112, since it is a test.
