This is how the brand should continue under Gordon Brothers

The US investor Gordon Brothers has acquired the trademark rights to Orsay. The brand will continue to be sold through franchisees and the partner About You.

Gordon Brothers has acquired the Orsay brand, archives, associated trademarks and other intellectual property from Orsay GmbH. The company has also partnered with About-You subsidiary Scayle to continue the company’s growth and to support Orsay’s existing franchisees, a statement said on Wednesday.

Scayle offers ecommerce software for businesses that want to sell directly to consumers. Orsay items are currently available through the About You online store.

More collections planned

“We’ve followed the Orsay story for years and have always been impressed by the brand’s strong connection to consumers,” said Tobias Nanda, President Brands at Gordon Brothers we are excited to partner with Scayle for the next chapter of growth.”

With the takeover by Gordon Brothers, the women’s fashion brand is to retain its brand DNA and develop new clothing, shoes and accessories. The investor has not disclosed how the business will be continued in concrete terms.

Gordon Brothers has been buying up brands to revitalize them since 2003. Examples from the fashion world are labels like Laura Ashley, Nicole Miller or Bench.

Until recently, no interested parties were found for the insolvent clothing chain Orsay GmbH from Willstätt in Baden-Württemberg. All German branches had to close at the end of June, and up to 1,200 employees lost their jobs.
