The hockey legend followed Sami Välimäki’s historic tournament.

Sami Välimäki27, was the first Finn to win a leg of the PGT tour on Sunday evening. Välimäki’s winning score was 23 under par.

The victory was secured only on the last hole. The second came from the United States Max McGreevy was only one stroke away from Välimäki.

A puck legend who enjoys playing golf Teemu Selänne followed Välimäki’s performances closely and praised the man’s performance on the last hole in Instagram stories.

Välimäki earned 1.1 million euros in prize money from the tournament. After his victory, the man shared a funny picture of himself in the jersey of the Finnish national ice hockey team and a related quote on Instagram.

– My main goal was to play in the NHL. They didn’t pick me for the national team, they picked me for the national golf team, Välimäki’s quote stated in English.

The golf star also published a recent picture of himself with the winning trophy. On the side, he added the subject tag #tor.

In addition to Selänte, Välimäki was also congratulated by many other Finnish sports heroes, such as the rally star Kalle Rovanperä and karttur Jonne Halttunengolf heroes Mikko Ilonen, Tapio Pulkanen and Minea Blomqvist and a cousin who plays in the NHL Juuso Välimäki.
