Do you already miss regular macaroni? At Myllin Parhaa, the shop shelf is gaping with emptiness.
Store shelves are still empty of Mylly Parha’s macaroni, even though a change was already promised in August.
After the problems, the machines at the Hyvinkää macaroni factory have been put into use and working, but the macaroni situation in grocery stores around Finland is still bad.
Communications manager of Lantmännen Cereal, which bought Millin Parha Emelie Bontesse de Filippis answers Iltalehti’s questions about Sweden.
According to him, there were initially disturbances during the start-up phase in August, so fewer macaroni were produced than planned.

Now the factory is working at full capacity, but no stock can be created. All macaroni that is taken to stores is bought immediately.
– We understand that as long as the unusually high demand for our products continues, supermarket shelves will quickly become empty.
Bontesse de Filippis states that the rise in demand is natural, as consumers’ cupboards have been emptied of macaroni during the summer. Macaroni is likely to be hoarded, as it is a dry product that keeps well.
– All in all, it is difficult to predict when the situation in stores will return to normal, but it will probably take some time, Bontesse de Filippis states.
