After his violent accident, Mick Schumacher will not start in the second Formula 1 race of the season in Jeddah (Sunday, 7:00 p.m. CEST / Sky). This was announced by his Haas racing team on Saturday evening.
Schumacher’s teammate Kevin Magnussen will drive the only Haas in Saudi Arabia.
Team boss Günther Steiner spoke of a “very eventful day. The best thing is that Mick apparently didn’t suffer any injuries.” However, there is a possibility that Schumacher will have to stay in the hospital for observation.
Schumacher’s accident had overshadowed qualifying and caused anxious minutes. The Haas driver crashed into the barriers on the very fast street circuit at well over 200 km/h, and the session was immediately interrupted. The bolide was torn into three parts and badly damaged.

Around half an hour after the crash, Steiner gave the all-clear. “Mick is fully conscious, he spoke to his mother. He has no external injuries,” said the South Tyrolean.
The world automobile association FIA said about the 23-year-old Schumacher: “The examination in the medical center revealed no injuries and he was transferred to the King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah as a precaution.”
Schumacher had reached the second part of the session and was also doing very well until the accident. In the end he reached starting position 14.
