This week, Iltalehti will publish a tasting of the digital visual magazine archive of the 1980s, which opened on Wednesday.
AOP
Iltalehti reported on its front page on August 10, 1984 Martti Vainion blade condition and thigh cramp relief before the 5,000-meter final at the Los Angeles Olympics.
– The semi-finals showed that I was fine, thank you (doctor) Pekka Peltokallion and the expert care of our masseurs, Vainio comments in a preview of the inside pages.
– If the others do not keep up the pace enough, then you have to start the job yourself.
Three days later Vainio was on the front page of Iltalehti again. The whole of Finland was buzzing with a doping cart that prevented Vainio from participating in the 5,000-meter final and reset the silver performance in the 10,000-meter final.
– Would I be so stupid as to risk my entire career, my future and my reputation for a stupid doping trick? Vainio asks.
– Believe me.
On the inside, Vainio’s nutrition coach told us about the Grand Mam D7 selenium product, whose “behavior in the tests is unknown”.
– I have come to the conclusion that one of the last eight vitamin injections has been mistaken for Martin, the nutrition coach says.
– We agreed that Martti would keep the name of the doctor (who injected the vitamins) as his own information.
The people believed in Vainio’s innocence – at least on the basis of Iltalehti’s hotline Calls.
– Hotline phones were completely blocked by readers’ opinions, the opening published on Tuesday says.
– Most callers firmly believe in innocence. The toughest towels are thrown at the Finnish sports management and doctors.
Hard cover subject
During August, Case Vainio was on the cover of Iltalehti a dozen times and almost always as the main topic. On Wednesday, the 22nd, the results of new tests taken in Finland were announced, which still looked red.
– I wanted to be sure that the result of the (Olympic test) was correct. Now I got it, Vainio says.
– Once the jupaka is clear, I’m not going to report the name of the culprit. He will do it himself if he deems it appropriate.
