During his second major television appearance in recent times, comedian Luke Mockridge commented on what he called the shitstorm, which had flared up around the rape allegations against him in 2021 and is still smoldering. He wore a badge from the “Mental Health Action Alliance” on his shirt. “The shitstorm was a blatant thing. That really got me going. This is what happens and you watch as your whole world suddenly bursts into flames. But the personal things hurt me the most,” Mockridge said seriously. The last sentence should refer to his brother, among other things. He was thrown out of a driving school he attended in Berlin because of his relationship to Luke Mockridge.

The shit storm

The trigger for the wave of indignation, which lasted a long time on social media and flared up again on the occasion of this appearance, were allegations by his ex-girlfriend Ines Anioli that became public in 2021. However, the criminal complaint filed in 2019 for attempted rape was dropped by the Cologne public prosecutor. The alleged incident took place in the bedroom of the two, which means that there can only be testimony against testimony, which is not sufficient for further prosecution. Nevertheless, the magazine “Der Spiegel” followed up the case and published a report in which several other women made allegations against Mockridge. The district court of Hamburg has prohibited the distribution of this report. The court ruled that it was “inadmissible reporting of suspicions”. Mockridge then withdrew from the public between March 2021 and September 2022 and stated that he had to deal with the incident and its consequences for himself.

Back in the spotlight

The Bonner had returned from this break to play the tour of his program “Welcome to Luckyland”, which had actually been canceled, under the title: “A Way Back to Luckyland”. It was honored as the most successful live program at the “German Comedy Prize” 2022. “Sat.1” also broadcast the show on December 9, 2022. The broadcaster, on which Luke Mockridge’s mainstream career also began, had consistently shown solidarity with him during the shitstorm. His second “Sat.1” appearance within a month has now proven that Mockridge’s career has survived the shit storm, contrary to the fears he had expressed. Luke ended the story about his brother with a joke: “But that’s one thing that you just have to accept at a moment like this, that you live in a country where women can teach driving.”

Another tour has already been announced for 2023. She goes by the name “Trippy”.
