Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley, his granddaughter daughter Riley Keough and actor Austin Butler celebrated Elvis Presley’s birthday at a party ahead of the Golden Globes on Sunday. It was a rare public appearance for Lisa Marie, whose only son Benjamin died by suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.
Family and Elvis film crew gathered
The King of Rock and Roll’s daughter and granddaughter partied at the Formosa Cafe in West Hollywood, accompanied by Butler, who played Elvis in the 2022 film of the same name, and the biopic’s director Baz Luhrmann. The “King of Rock’n’Roll”, who died in 1977, would have been 88 on January 8th.
Footage shared on Riley’s Instagram Stories showed Baz singing along to the Elvis song “Can’t Help Falling in Love” while standing by a cake with Lisa Marie, Riley and Austin. The giant cake featured the words “Happy Birthday” and the film’s logo.
Austin Butler as Elvis: “Nothing short of spectacular”
Before Elvis was released last June, Lisa Marie described the film as “nothing short of spectacular” and “utterly exquisite” in a rare Instagram post. She wrote, “Austin Butler beautifully channeled and embodied my father’s heart and soul. In my humble opinion his performance is unparalleled and FINALLY accurate and respectfully done.”
