Kalle Rovanperä’s teammate Elfyn Evans has risen to third place in the World Rally Championship after a difficult start to the season.
The Welshman has finished second three times in the previous four rallies. Just in these games Kalle Rovanperä has wedged past his more experienced teammate every time. Elfyn Evans admitted after the World Rally Championship in Estonia that Rovanperä is currently in a class of his own.
Evans also finds differences between the two in driving style. Before the World Rally Championship in Finland, the Welsh rider plans to spend a lot of time studying videos.
– Our cars are set up a little differently. He has a slightly different driving style, no doubt about it. Sure, we learn from each other all the time, but it’s not very easy to learn something like that overnight, no matter how hard you try, says Evans.
– Fortunately, there is now some time to investigate the matter before Finland. To be honest, if you look at the World Cup table now compared to last year, there is quite a bit of work to do. We were in Estonia at his feet last year as well, but Finland still went well.
“I’m looking forward to”
PDO
Last October, Evans drove to victory in the Finnish World Rally Championship, while Rovanperä fell into the exit stage at the time. However, the young Finn’s confidence is at an extremely high level at the moment, but Evans still wants to beat his teammate for the first time this season.
– I’m looking forward to the Finnish World Cup Rally. It’s one of my favorite races on the calendar and a fantastic venue. Last year I had a good feeling in the car at the very beginning and the confidence was right and that was it, Evans sums up.
– In the end, the victory came quite easily. Of course, we would like to repeat the same trick, but we’ll see how it goes.
