This is how it turned out – “It takes some getting used to”

Rower Jari Saario went to the tattoo studio not knowing exactly what was coming to his chest.

Jari Saario got a big sea tattoo last week. He pressed on to the studio not knowing exactly what kind of picture he was going to get on his chest.

– It was quite a bold bet to take the big picture designed and conceived by others for the rest of my life, Saario reflects.

– Sometimes I have sworn not to get any tattoos, but I wanted something from (Atlantic) rowing on my skin.

The tattoo was worked on by artists I shook hands and Torsten Malm. Kätlin Malm (nee Laas) is remembered for the 2009 Big Brother program, where she finished second.

– They are well-known in the world and know what a great picture is like, Saario says.

– I gave a little idea like my Atlantin boat, a humpback whale and something else, but I didn’t get to know in advance what it would be like. Fire roared: lighthouse, boat, sunset and waves.

Is the end result pleasing to the eye?

– I’ve liked it – but of course it takes a little getting used to.

Jari Saario boasts that he spent 18–20 hours on the tattoo table over the course of two days. Inka Soveri
