Bayern’s substitution error from the weekend continues to cause a stir: SC Freiburg unexpectedly appeals against the game rating. The record champions from Munich are convinced of one thing.
FC Bayern Munich reacted to SC Freiburg’s protest against the game rating because of the Munich mistake. “We are convinced that the DFB sports court can only come to one decision according to the applicable regulations: The rating of our 4-1 victory is preserved,” said Michael Gerlinger, Vice President Sports Business and Competitions at Munich, on Monday.
FC Bayern had twelve players on the field for a few seconds on Saturday in Freiburg before referee Christian Dingert interrupted the Bundesliga game when the score was 1:3. The wrong shirt number had previously been displayed when Kingsley Coman was substituted.
A devastating move?
The Frenchman probably didn’t feel addressed and initially didn’t leave the field after a double substitution. In this phase, however, there were no game-changing scenes. Dingert recorded the events in the game report, the game ended 4-1 for FC Bayern.
After the Freiburg protest, the sports court of the German Football Association must now deal with the case. The DFB announced that this would first obtain comments from those involved in the procedure. After the comments have been received and evaluated, the committee will decide on the further course of the process.
