This is how Daniel Radcliffe landed the role of Weird al Yankovic | celebrities

It was 2010 when Radcliffe was a guest on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and he started singing Tom Lehrer’s fun song ‘The Elements’ by heart. In this song, all the chemical elements in the periodic table are listed in order and in rhyme form to the tune of Major-General’s Song from the opera “The Pirates of Penzance.” Actor Colin Farrell and singer Rihanna, who were also guests in addition to Radcliffe, did not know what they were experiencing at the time.

According to Radcliffe, his performance of the song may have been the reason he was chosen by Yankovic, who is best known for his humorous songs and parodies of famous hits, to play him in the upcoming movie about his life. “I think Al saw that and thought ‘this guy understands’. That’s why he chose me, I think.”

The Harry Potter actor, who he says had not met Yankovic before, said he is very honored to play the singer and that he is currently taking accordion lessons with the American.
