Monaco events in the background?
Last year, in the final race of the season, Perez played a big role when the world championship turned dramatically to Verstappen. Perez defended as if he was chasing the World Championship title on the last day Lewis Hamilton against to buy Verstappen time to catch the Brit.
Also this season, Perez has obeyed politely when the team has asked him to avoid Verstappen. On the surface, the duo seemed to be on good terms, but now the internal harmony of the stable has been shattered in plain sight.
It has been suggested in media speculation that the events of the Monaco GP earlier this year would have been behind Verstappen’s refusal. The reporter of the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf says that Verstappen paid the pot in the pot because Perez’s tricks cost him the race win.
It was alleged that the Mexican crashed on purpose during the qualifying sessions in Monaco in the hope of red flags. The session was interrupted and Perez was able to start the race ahead of Verstappen.
Perez eventually won the race himself. According to claims in the media, Perez would have admitted to the team management that he crashed in qualifying on purpose.
– That’s true, isn’t it? Tom Coronel just said on Viaplay. Perez crashed on purpose in Monaco qualifying and later admitted it For Helmut Marko and to Christian Horner. Max Verstappen hasn’t forgotten that, De Telegraaf’s Dutch reporter Erik van Haren to tweet.
