This is how Britt Weerman flies over 1 meter 92: ‘A bit unreal’

Until she was twelve, Weerman was a promising gymnast. But a serious elbow injury threw a spanner in the works. She chose athletics and won several national medals in the hundred meters hurdles. But she quickly stood out in the high jump.

At 1 meter 92 she is only one centimeter away from the Dutch indoor record for seniors and two centimeters from the outdoor record. Both performances were delivered by Nadine Broersen. It is also very close to the international limits. “For the European Championships for seniors she has to jump 1 meter 95 and for the World Cup 1 meter 96. So she is only a small part of the international tournaments and that is really special,” says Wijma.

You wonder where there is still some stretch. But there are still plenty of areas for improvement for the future, according to her trainer. “Her timing of the hollowing of her back can sometimes be a bit better”, Wijma analyzes. And there is still stretch in the run-up. “I have to make some more speed in the future. That could be done by extending my run-up”, concludes Weerman.
