The second day of carnival was a beautiful day with temperatures well above ten degrees. Carnival was celebrated everywhere in the province. Below is a selection of all events in Brabant.
Major parades in Lampegat and Tullepetaonestad
The first dozens of parades have now been completed. The largest parades took place in Lampegat (Eindhoven) and Tullepetaonestad (Roosendaal). The one in Lampegat was broadcast live by Omroep Brabant. The one in Roosendaal will be on television on Sunday at 11.30 am. Below you will see an impression of both.

The Fijnfisjenie café has started again
The Fijnfisjenie Café also started in Roeptoetgat on Saturday. Jordy and Christel kicked off in a packed café on Saturday afternoon. Until Tuesday they can be seen in the afternoon and evening and they throw a party every day together with various carnival artists and all visitors.
Breakfast on bed
Mandy Runs from Striepersgat (Valkenswaard) received a very tasty breakfast on the first carnival morning. “What a treat,” she wrote on Instagram.

Three generations of wagon builders
Arnold de Graauw (79) is a proud grandfather. On Saturday morning he was present early for the parade in D’n Haaykaant (Raamsdonk) to see his grandsons at work. Grandpa is not allowed to help and only has to watch. “No, Grandpa. We can do that ourselves,” they say.
Because after grandfather Arnold and son Theo (52), four grandsons have taken over. Now they are the wagon builders of the family and that makes Grandpa Arnold very proud. “It’s unimaginable that these young guys can make things like this in this way. I know how difficult this is.”
Winners Choose your Squatter have a short night
The members of CV De Weggooiers celebrated the victory of Kies je Kraker. On Friday afternoon, the Oosterhout carnival club won the absolute top prize during 3 Uurkes Vurraf in Eindhoven with their song ‘Nog un likkie!’.
“It is not late, but very early,” says Loek van Gastel, one of the thirteen members of De Weggooiers on Omroep Brabant radio on Saturday morning. “I was in bed at seven o’clock and at ten o’clock you called,” he laughs. “Three hours of sleep afterwards, haha.”
Brabants Buske recreated in Peenrijk
In Peeenrijk (Dongen), creative people have recreated the Brabants Buske from Omroep Brabant. Hannelore Struijs and Roxanne Hazenberg drove to the ‘look a like’ in the real bus on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised.
The ‘stand-in bus’ will take part in the parade through Peenrijk on Sunday. Interviews are of course conducted along the way, just like with the real Buske.
How do you survive carnival?
Drink a lot, drink a little? What should you eat? We asked on the street:

Border between Krabberdonk and Birrekoal
The border between Krabberdonk (Den Dungen) and Birrekoal (Berlicum) was established once and for all on Saturday. And that border is now in the middle of the Bluumkes Bridge between the two villages.
The border was unveiled in the middle of the bicycle bridge over the Zuid-Willemsvaart on Saturday morning with a short ceremony. Both princes and adjutants pulled back a cloth and thus made the new border official.
The border between the two villages was far too irregular for years, people thought. It was not a border conflict or cross-border, but a clear separation was urgently needed between the two carnival areas.
Warning for people from the Randstad
“Attention Randstad residents! Take carnival seriously. Don’t take mewling Oeteldonkers too seriously. IT’S FRIES!!!”, reads a sign next to the rainbow zebra crossing at Den Bosch station.
It is a road sign that looks professional. Anyone who didn’t know any better would think that the municipality has put up a sign with tips for carnival goers from the Randstad. Nothing could be further from the truth, because the municipality has nothing to do with it. It was hung by Jasper Schilder from Den Bosch.
