A big chunk awaits the German handball players in the main round of the European Championship. This is a special duel for national coach Alfred Gíslason.
The German handball players will be facing Iceland at the start of their European Championship main round. The team led by former Kiel player Aron Palmarsson will face the European Championship hosts in Cologne, who will be looked after by Icelander Alfred Gíslason.
Palmarsson and Co. had to admit defeat to the surprisingly strong Hungary with 25:33 (13:15) in their last group game in Munich in front of 12,128 spectators in the Olympic Hall.

Source: ARD/ZDFAfter two initial victories, Germany suffered the first setback at 30:33 (15:17) against Olympic champion France and came second in the group. Gíslason’s team goes into the main round without a plus point. The first two in the group of six win the ticket for the semi-finals.
The other German opponents are Croatia, Hungary and Austria.
