At the weekend, other musicians, Jack White and Trent Reznor, once again spoke out against the short message service Twitter under the new leadership of Elon Musk.

White lashed out via Instagram on Sunday that Musk had unblocked former US President and presidential nominee Donald Trump on Twitter, allegedly citing freedom of expression. White addressed Musk directly: “This is disgusting, Elon. An official asshole move. Why aren’t you honest? Tell me how it is. People like you and Joe Rogan (who gives a platform to liars like Alex Jones) arrive with heaps of cash. (…) And you support every Republican whose tax policy helps you keep more of your money. (…) Trump was banned from Twitter at the time because he repeatedly called for violence. People died and got hurt as a result of his lies and ego.”

Read White’s full, haunting statement here, which he ended with: “You also took on a lot of responsibility with the Twitter acquisition. ‘Free Speech’ is not just any umbrella protecting you from it.”

Trent Reznor publicly announced on Sunday that he was leaving Twitter. It’s an embarrassment: “We don’t need the arrogance of billionaires who think they can just walk in and solve all the problems. Even before Musk took over Twitter, the musician and ORoducer considered deactivating his account. “Even without Musk, Twitter has become an increasingly toxic environment. I need to get out of there for my mental health. It doesn’t feel good to be there anymore.

Actually has Reznor has now deactivated his account. He was followed by 1.6 million users there, although Reznor rarely actively used Twitter anyway.

Former White Stripes singer and guitarist Jack White has released two new studio albums this year and is currently touring. In Malaysia he covered a few days ago nirvanas Heart Shaped Box:

Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor joined Atticus Ross on Friday to release the soundtrack to Luca Guadagnino’s new film Bones And All, a “cannibal love story” starring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russel.
