Jorik Scholten (Lil Kleine) has completed his first TV interview in two years. He only got pissed off once at Renze Klamer’s table yesterday. “I think this is a bit of a strange question.”
Two years after dragging Jaimie Vaes out of the car, he is back in the media: Jorik Scholten, better known as Lil Kleine. The reason? A docuseries about his life that is currently available to stream. And to promote that, the rapper was allowed to join us last night talk show by Renze Klamer. The result? A pretty boring interview.
‘That is not true’
Renze starts the conversation with the striking question why Jorik is actually sitting at the table. He then replies: “I want to talk about the documentary, I want to take responsibility and one day you will have to sit here again, so when is the right time? And I’m also sitting here a bit because you asked me to.”
“Really?”, the host comments. “Oh, I thought we were approached by you, I thought.”
Jorik firmly: “No, that is not the case.”
Renze: “No? Isn’t that so? Okay, I’ll have to look into that.”
Ideal son-in-law
The interview with Jorik yields very little. Renze takes it very seriously when the rapper indicates that he will continue to drink. “I don’t have to become the ideal son-in-law. I just want to remain myself. If I tell you now that I am going to stop drinking and that I will become the ideal son-in-law, then I am lying to you and the whole of the Netherlands.”
In any case, he no longer sniffs, according to Jorik. “You want my honest answer and so far I haven’t used and I have drunk. If you want my honest answer: I will always have a drink, yes. As much as the Netherlands wants to hear that I’m not going to do that, I’m not going to lie here, you know?”
Son on one
Renze finds this difficult to understand as a father. “But if it becomes a problem every time and you say: ‘My son comes first’, then isn’t your son ultimately more important than drink?”
Jorik doesn’t think that’s a nice comment. “Yes, sure, but what other problem has it caused?”
Renze: “Well, I just watch the documentary and then I hear your manager say: ‘That drink isn’t going well, Jorik. It’s too much, you’re drunk all the time.’”
Odd question
Jorik is clear not amused. “Yes, okay. No, okay. But my son comes to number one anyway. It’s a strange question to say: ‘What is more important to you: booze or your son?’”
Renze: “Yes, I don’t know. I don’t know how you divide the care, for example, but it seems to me that when your son is with you, you say: ‘Then I won’t drink a drop,’ for example.”
Jorik irritated: “Well, for example.”
Jorik doesn’t drink
Renze thinks that is a good thing. “Okay, but those are things you do.”
Jorik annoyed: “Yes. When I’m with my son, I’m not drinking, no.”
The father of the year. Until happy hour starts.
